Dear Cecil: Why don't auto headlights go off when you turn off the ignition? Is it a conspiracy to sell more car batteries? I can't think of a reason the headlights need to be switched independently of the ignition except possibly when you lose your keys at night in front of your car. There is a easy way to get to the headlight bulbs to replace them. First, remember to not touch the glass on the bulbs. Doing so may cause early failure of the bulbs. I use clean white cotton gloves when installing the bulbs. Turn the steering wheel all the way to one side. Look in the fender well at the plastic liner. Directly behind the headlight you will find a Phillips screw. This screw is in a recess in the fender liner. Remove this one screw. The fender liner can now be easily pulled back to get access to the bulbs. Disconnect the wiring plug from the bulb. The bulb can now be rotated to remove. Reverse the procedure to install the new bulb. There is a easy way to get to the headlight bulbs to replace them. We live in Denmark so Im not sure how its components compare to the States models. But I have an issue with my headlights. Here in denmark, all cars must have automatic driving lights. So as soon as I turn my CRV on, the low beam lights activate. And they shut off when the ignition is turned off. But the last weeks, the light have been very intermittent with shutting off with the ignition. Sometimes they still do turn off with the car, but other times its just a guessing game on what to do with the light switch on the steering colomn. Turn the car on, manually turn on the lights, maybe the brights too. Then turn them all off and shut the car off. Sometimes the lights then shut off with the ignition, sometimes it takes many times of starting and shuting the car off before the headlights turn off. Is there anyone out there who can help me with this? Tips or solutions all welcome. On a new issue, is there any way to get the parking lights to flash or the horn to sound when you lock the door with the keyless entry remote? My owners manual is in danish language and Im American. So i cant get much out of it. Thanks for your help. The AutoGuide.com network consists of the largest network of enthusiast-owned enthusiast-operated automotive communities.
